Why I Decided To Work Out

If you asked anyone why they finally decided to get in shape, the most common answers would be “Oh, I want to have a healthier lifestyle.” or “Have you seen the lifesaver forming on my waist? It needs to be gone before spring break.”. And that’s great! Good for you all! My reasons aren’t exactly like that but as odd as they are, they motivate me.

1. My own parents are telling me how fat I am.

I am very conscious of other people’s opinion of me but not in a crazy way where I like to rely everything I do based on what other people think. I’m not that much of a pushover. But lately it’s getting… disconcerting. They’re even interrogating me if I’m bloody pregnant. Is that the usual conclusion? Can’t I be just fatter than usual? “I’m curvy, and I like it.”, just like Joey from Friends would say. So anyway, I just want them to shut up about it because it’s getting on my nerves. A pretty good reason for me.

2. My grandmother said I was fat too

And then she died. That was the last thing she said to me coherently. If that doesn’t motivate you, then I don’t know what will. Would I want her visiting me from the grave telling me that same thing when I gain an extra five pounds the next year, and then the next? I don’t think so. (chills)

3. Losing weight is better than buying new clothes.

You don’t have to go to the gym to exercise. There’s running, jogging, dancing, cleaning the house, doing yoga, walking your dog. So many things to choose from. Push ups, curl ups, whatever else ups out there can be done on your floor. Also, when you diet, food costs less. Think of the cost of joining the gym and buying new clothes that would actually fit you, it’s pretty expensive if you ask me. Times are hard nowadays.
