When That High Is Gone

Like us our love grows old in time
And perhaps, let’s hope, it’s for the best
That the lack of that fire is not a crime
Hope that this is not another test

But until then I’ll give the benefit of the doubt
This plateau is normal as the sun
As it rises in and sets to move out
Only to come back brighter when you think it’s already done

We hold our hands, remain the calm
Ignore all the fear and the doubt
We trust the fire to keep us warm
Until our time soon runs out
